WELCOME & ACTIVATE BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE Greet students. Follow opening procedures to prepare students for learning.
Activate background knowledge of their experience with the words “screen time”. Use a poster, whiteboard, or display the words “screen time.” Read the letters of the word, pointing to each one, and then read the words.
Ask: What is screen time?
Allow students think and answer time. Students will most likely be able to define screen time with examples. Elicit specific examples and guide discussion to recognize that screen time refers to all our experiences with technology, particularly technology with screens. OBJECTIVE Display and read objectives. Say: Today we are learning to notice how using technology, and screen time, makes us feel. Technology and screen time can be awesome! But they can also hurt us. Too much screen time can hurt our eyes, necks, and backs. Too much screen time can also make us feel more lonely, bored, and cranky. That’s why it is important to set limits on how much we use technology.
