● Magnitude comparison with objects ● Magnitude comparison with pictures ● Subitizing – recognize small numbers of objects (1- 4) ● Vocabulary including concept of more, less, etc. ● One-to-one correspondence when counting objects or pictures of objects

● Is the student counting out the dot patterns or do they associate the number of dots with a number without needing to count (subitizing)? ● Does the student always select the box that has fewer dots? ● Does the student always select the box on the right or on the left regardless of the quantity? ● Does the student respond with numbers that are not one of the two choices? ● If the student is unable to name the number that is associated with the number of dots and/or have trouble counting the dots, do they have one-to-one correspondence when counting objects or pictures of objects? ● Can the student consistently point to the box that has more dots when not asked to name the number?
