Try It Out
Are you ready to enjoy some strawberries? Don't forget to explore the following activities with a friend or family member: Ask an adult friend or family member to take you on a field trip to a local grocery store. Be sure to choose a store that has a robust selection of fresh fruits. What kinds of strawberries can you find? If you find some white strawberries, purchase a few to take home to try. If possible, buy some regular red strawberries for comparison. Which tastes better? Think about the many different types of fruits that you enjoy. They come in all sorts of different shapes, sizes, and flavors. If you could mix any two fruits to create a hybrid with a specific shape, size, and flavor, what would you make? For example, how about a green fruit the size and shape of an orange that tastes like a grape? Or what about a red fruit the shape and size of a pineapple that tastes like watermelon?
