This integrated project should be taught at the end of the school year during both the science and social studies blocks. It is a culminating, integrated science and social studies project.

KEY STANDARD(S) Social Studies

Standard 1.1.3 : Use primary sources (for example, artifacts and documents such as photographs, newspapers, speakers, stories, songs) to make inferences about why certain events in history are remembered.

Standard 1.1.4 : Create a primary source to show how their personal histories are shaped by family, school, and community (for example, timeline, interview, artifact collection, recipe book).

Science Standard 1.1.2

Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about the patterns observed at different times of the year to relate the amount of daylight to the time of year. Emphasize the variation in daylight patterns at different times of the day and different times of the year. Examples could include varying locations and regions throughout the state, country, and world. (ESS1.B) ELA Standard 1. SL.1 Participate effectively in a range of conversations with various partners, using age-appropriate vocabulary on topics and texts.
