DLI 4th Grade Guide
4th Grade Math Scope & Sequence
Standard 4.MD.7 Recognize angle measure as additive. a. Understand that when an angle is decomposed into non-overlapping parts, the angle measure of the whole is the sum of the angle measures of the parts. b. Solve addition and subtraction problems to fnd unknown angles on a diagram in real-world and mathematical problems, for example by using an equation with a symbol for the unknown angle measure.
End of Unit Competency
By the end of Topic 15 students will be able to explain common geometric terms and measure angles Language Functions and Features: Describe data and/or steps to solve problems using: ● Mathematical terms ( angle, point, line, ray, segment, unit angle, degree, protractor, measure ) ● Visuals ( drawings, diagrams ) to support classifcation and/or extract information ● Observations ( notice, it appears, looks like ) and comparative language ( greater than, less than, equivalent to ) to share results (eg. The measure of ∠ RSQ is.. . because… )
