Elementary Mathematics District-Wide Standards-Based Assessments
DISTRICT-WIDE STANDARDS-BASED ASSESSMENTS (DWSBAs) DWSBAs are part of the CSD Assessment system and are part of CSD's commitment to strengthening mathematics instruction and supporting our K–5 math learning goals DWSBAs are designed to formatively assess where students are in their learning progression towards mastery of targeted standards and to provide feedback to students at set points in time. To make our assessment valid and reliable, all schools will need to follow the same protocol for giving the Math District-wide Standards-based Assessments. This will enable schools to compare data across the district within demographics and grade levels. Teachers and PLC’s use DWSBA data to make instructional adjustments that impact student learning. DWSBA Assessment Instructions Each teacher will follow the DWSBA Administration Manual:
Tips for Utilizing DWSBA Data · Formatively guide next steps with instruction · Evaluate student progress · Gauge student performance compared to their peers · Provide feedback to students on their progress towards mastery · Have students assess their data and develop goals for growth

Administration This assessment is not timed. Students should be allowed to finish to the best of their ability, and should not be pressured to spend more time on the task, which may not change the student’s score. Students receiving services from special education, guided by an IEP, and ML students are receiving core instruction. The assessments align to grade-level core standards; therefore, no additional accommodations other than those outlined in the DWSBA manual should be assigned.
