Differentiation in Action

Drawing Pictures and Using Objects for Word Problems: After students have completed Independent Practice Item 2 in Lesson 14-4 on their own, have them work with partners to see if, together, they can fnd all the ways to compose the hexagon.

Skill Building

Provide students with this sentence frame to help them express their solution: “I can compose the hexagon by using ________.”

Shapes in our World: Encourage students to observe objects in their own environments to determine what shapes those everyday objects are composed of. Draw a picture of where the shape is located in the environment and label the shape.
