Differentiation in Action

Gestures : To scaffold students as they compare numbers teach students gestures for each symbol (>, <, =). The gesture should connect to the direction the number is on the number line. Have the whole class show the gesture that represents the relationship between the numbers then state the relationship. Write a Clue: Higher order thinking problem on page 372 has students writing a clue for a partner. Students could continue clue writing beyond one clue and share with a partner.

Science

Standard 1.3.3 Plan and carry out an investigation to determine the effect of materials in the path of a beam of light. Emphasize that light can travel through some materials, can be refected off some materials, and some materials block light causing shadows. Examples of materials could include clear plastic, wax paper, cardboard, or a mirror. (PS4.B)
