Emergency Procedures (continued)
LOCKDOWN THREATENING INTRUDER INSIDE BUILDING. OUTSIDE DOORS UNLOCK TO ALLOW LAW ENFORCEMENT INTO THE BUILDING • Should an unwelcome guest create a hostile environment or a medical emergency occurs, you will hear the announcement, “Secure the building, this is a LOCKDOWN.” • Immediately, gather all students in hallways to the nearest classroom • Take electronic device to communicate, if possible • Have students remain in their rooms and lock all doors • Close windows and blinds. Cover window on door to hallway. • Do not let any students leave the room • Instruct students to sit away from windows and doors • Take roll on emergency accountability form • Email status to office. (1) All students present (2) Student(s) missing by name. Do not include absent students. • Keep students calm and quiet • Remain in lockdown until LAW ENFORCEMENT OR ADMINISTRATORS CLEAR THE ROOMS If outside, instruct and direct students to scatter into neighborhood SHELTER IN PLACE EXTERIOR THREAT -- ALL EXTERIOR DOORS LOCKED • Should an immanent threat occur, you will hear the announcement, “All students and staff need to come inside the building. This is a SHELTER IN PLACE.” • Immediately upon hearing the activation of a shelter-in-place event, the teacher will close all doors, windows, and blinds leading to the outside environment • Close any doors leading to the hallway or common areas • Direct students to classrooms • Email list of missing (not absent) student names or that all students are accounted for to office staff • Move any students outside of the building into classrooms • If your class is in the cafeteria, Brain Boosters, etc., retrieve them and take them to your classroom. • Continue regular class operations in the sheltered environment
