BEST PRACTICES FOR DIGITAL TEACHING AND LEARNING “Digital [teaching and learning] is not about flashy tools; it is a strategic mindset that leverages available resources to improve what we do while anticipating changes needed to cultivate a school culture focused on efficacy.” (Sheninger, 2019) Teaching with technology is about creating new opportunities to reach all students using effective instructional strategies prioritized in the CSD MTSS Framework and ensuring that the primary focus of digital teaching and learning continues to support your learning intentions. Technology should be used intentionally in the classroom to provide both teacher-centered and learner-centered learning experiences that are designed to maximize student learning and instructional time.
When the technology being used is not supporting the learning outcomes and providing a high learning level, the use of that technology in that situation should be reexamined or not used at all.
The Best Practices for Digital Teaching and Learning directly align with CSD’s academic and behavioral instructional priorities, and were identified to support teachers in determining when to integrate technology into their instruction and student learning experiences. Both the TPACK Framework and the SAMR Model support educators in successful technology implementation.
