MS Science DWSBA District Wide Standards Based Assessments
What are the DISTRICT-WIDE STANDARDS-BASED ASSESSMENTs (DWSBAs)? DWSBAs are part of the CSD Assessment system. DWSBAs are designed to formatively assess where students are in their learning progression towards mastery of targeted skills/standards and to provide feedback to students at set points in time. Assessments are like RISE where they have a stimulus, followed by specific questions about the stimulus. Teachers can effectively use DWSBA data for IPLCs at the school and district levels by using the data to plan for future instruction. Teachers decide as a district-wide IPLC which units will be assessed and set the assessment window. How should the DWSBA Assessment be administered? The DWSBA will be administered 3x per school year utilizing Canvas/Mastery Connect. ● In order to administer the DWSBA, you will first need to link your canvas course to a Mastery Connect Tracker. ● Once this is done, Benchmark assessments will be pushed out at the district level directly to your linked canvas course. ● It is important that you do not pre-teach the DWSBA, and that students receive it without additional background information. ● Note: If you have semester canvas courses, you will need to do this process for each semester. What accommodations should I allow for students on an IEP or ELLs? Accommodation decisions for ELL or students on an IEP, are left up to the school site with consultation from the school’s SST or leadership team. Mastery Connect does provide options for several accommodations, including a picture dictionary, and text-to-speech features. Please view this video to see how to set accommodations for students.
