High School G, PG, TV-Y, TV-Y7, TV-PG PG-13 / TV-14: Requires teacher preview, principal approval, and written parental permission. ●​ Strictly Prohibited: Content rated R, NC-17, or TV-MA (or equivalents) is never allowed for school-related use. ●​ Unrated Films: Must be viewed in their entirety by both the teacher and an administrator before use. Permissible vs. Prohibited Use Permissible Use ●​ Public Performance License: The District provides a specific license for viewing feature films outside of direct instruction, such as for assemblies or reward parties. ●​ Lawful Access: Use only district-owned or licensed materials accessed through your teacher-librarian, instructional coach, or principal. ●​ Rewards: Media used for rewards must be approved in advance by the principal. Prohibited Use ●​ Personal Accounts: Employees may not use their personal streaming accounts (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc.) or personally owned media (DVDs, Blu-rays) as they are licensed for personal home use only. ●​ Ticket Sales: Selling tickets to any public viewing is prohibited without specific license agreements. ●​ Trailers: While "Approved for All Audiences" trailers for rated G, PG, TV-Y, and TV-Y7 may be used, they must directly support the curriculum and be fully previewed. Compliance and Consequences Failure to follow these standards—especially regarding rating guidelines, parental permission, or the illegal use of personal streaming accounts—may result in progressive disciplinary action as outlined in District policy. For access to purchased or licensed audiovisual media, contact the teacher-librarian or instructional coach. When in doubt about the appropriate use of audiovisual media, consult the principal.
