Formative Assessment: 8.4.4 SEEd Formative assessment

8.4.4 Phenomena Evaluation: Earth’s Temperature Changes

Objective

Overview

Materials

● I can analyze and interpret graphs to

● Earth View App ● CER Scaffolds

● Using the earthviewer app, click on warming Earth tab to view the temperature changes over any continent. There is also a temperature gauge in the upper left hand. Under the “charts” tab a the bottom, you can see a graph that shows temperature over time. CER making a claim about about patterns they identified in data and graphs and how those factors change global temperatures. ● Teacher will present data to students that shows tornado and earthquake occurrences per state. Students will analyze trends and record observations. There are patterns in the occurrences of natural hazards and these patterns can be used to predict future catastrophic events. ● Students should write a

identify patterns and the factors that affect regional climates. ● I can explain factors that change global temperatures and their effects on regional climates.

8.4.5 Phenomena: Tornado and Earthquake Data

Objective

Overview

Materials

● I can analyze data and identify patterns in the occurrences of natural hazards to predict future catastrophic events based on detectable preceded phenomena. ● I can obtain information on how data can be used to develop new technologies to limit the effects of the catastrophic events.

● US Tornado Data ● Additional Tornado Data ● Student graphic organizer
