DIFFERENTIATION IN ACTION

● Students could create a rock cycle model on paper, and the choose a molecule to travel through each phase of the cycle and describe how they got there. For instance, how did they end up on the beach, or on a river when they started as magma. ● Students could spend time learning about different types of minerals that are found in Utah and how they are used. ● Students could research Lab-Grown diamonds and how they use the rock cycle processes to create them. ● Students could research the Kennecott copper mine and mineral rights laws in the State of Utah. (Kennecott provides a great deal of copper, but other mineral are also fnd in high quantity in the mine such as molybdenum, gold, silver, sulfuric acid, etc. ● Students could discuss strip mining, and debate whether or not it should be allowed to occur.
