End of Unit Competency

By the end of Topic 10 students will be able to justify strategies for adding numbers to 1,000.

Language Functions and Features: Describe data and/or steps to solve problems using:

● Mathematical terms ( partial sums, place value, number line ) ● Past tense doing verbs ( added, started ) to recount steps

● Visuals ( place-value blocks, charts, number lines ) to support approach, solution, and/or extract information ● Connectors to order steps ( frst, next, then ) and indicate reasons ( because, so, that means, as a result ) ● Comparative language ( same as , different than, equal to ) to share results
