Students will be able to identify how individuals’ backgrounds and experiences can result in varied responses to situations. Students will demonstrate how to work effectively with those who are different from themselves. Students will be able to identify verbal, physical, and situational cues that indicate how others may feel. Students will be able to describe the expressed feelings and perspectives of others.
Students will be able to identify the possible reasons for others’ responses to situations and can practice perspective taking. Students will demonstrate respect for individuals from different social and cultural groups. Students will be able to predict others’ feelings and perspectives in a variety of situations.
Students will be able to describe the ways that people are similar and different.
Students will describe positive qualities in others.
Students will be able to recognize that others may experience situations differently from themselves.
Students will use listening skills to identify the feelings and perspectives of others.
Students will analyze how their own behavior may affect others.
Students will be able to, with adult guidance, identify how others are feeling, based on their verbal and nonverbal cues, and respond with compassion.
Students will be able to identify others’ need for empathy and respond in respectful ways.
Students will be able to recognize expressions of empathy in society and communities.
